How is FAT maxed out by 2GB?

I think it is possible through firmware update, Nokia is just lazy to support it. >>

I seriously want 4GB to work now, 2GB of music is wayyy too low.

Edit: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File_Allocation_Table

OK, it seems like 2GB is the limit for FAT16. I wonder if it is indeed FAT16 though? Nokia N91 also uses S60 v3 and it has 4GB-8GB available...

Also, didn't S60 change the file system from v2 to v3? Isn't that the reason why they are binary incompatible?

Sorry, I don't know much about it, but I'm curious. I hope somebody will clairfy.

Hm...N91 runs FAT32.

N91 Maintenance Guide (PDF)

(Check pages 6 and 9)

The SDHC cards work differently I believe than standard SD, so the f/w in the phones would have to be updated to be able to read the format. So...more than just a difference between FAT32 and FAT16.

Here's the technical papers if you're feeling a bit saucy. (PDF again).

So the N73 is FAT16?

Also, there are 4GB SD cards that aren't SDHC around... :/

I actually like Memory Stick more, really. 8GB now with just Pro, which is supported by any devices on sales, no HC upgrade thing.
