N73/Softbank 705NK in Japan unlockable?

If I buy a 705NK (N73) here in Japan, can I use it back in Canada? Is it factory unlocked? Unlockable? Cheers!

Yeah - am here in Tokyo.
And have a Softbank plan so can grab a n73 for cheap! Have been a customer (Vodafone before) for 2 years now and have accumulate tons of "points" which can be used to discount the price of a new phone.

But, I don't NEED a new phone - just wanted one for when I move back to Canada. But of course, if it's unlockable/locked then it won't do me much good outside Japan!

Kind of in the same boat here too and I'm looking for a way to get the
705NK unlocked otherwise it's just not worth getting.

What PITA that SoftBank makes you buy a phone when you start a
new term up. I already have a 3G/GSM MotoRazr Maxx V6 but NOoooo
I have to buy one of their phones.

I assume I can but I have not tested over there yet because I just
got it a few weeks ago and I haven't been back to Japan since then.

The PITA is that I have to open a new SoftBank account and the
deal with them is they ALWAYS make you buy a phone. So if I have
to buy a phone it might as well be a good one I can use everywhere.

I will most likely use my V6 to turn heads at night but the 705NK for
daily life. Saves on having to carry a camera. Cheesu!

WOW, seven different colour choices. Actually the phone doesn't
look all that bad. I will look into the specs a little more.

It's just too bad I don't trust Samsung or for that matter Korean companies
because of their well known habit of *cooking* facts and figures on
their products. I guess that goes for China as well and now Taiwan
seems to be slipping into that bad circle as well.
