N73 and handsfree car experts

Am wondering if any out there have any experience with the N73 pairing via bluetooth to a car.

Here's my case, I have a SLK 55 AMG and can pair my phone with it, but after paired up it should download the contacts. As of now everything is working good except it doesn't download the contacts. Have contatcted Mercedes and they say that it has a hard time with PDA type phones downloading contacts, that with a motorola razr it should work fine.

I borrowed a Razr and slipped my sim into it and sure enough everything works great, contacts download with no problem.

Since I'm not an expert with this phone, am hoping that someone here more knowledgable than I might know something I could try to make it work.

I really don't want to buy a second phone to use just when I use this car, seems there should be a way to do it, in searching for this, nothing came up that I could relate to.

Any ideas or experiences with this?

Thanx in advance for any help!

I have the same issue with my infiniti, I think its a bug in the N73, i just used a different phone to download that contacts, and then just went back to the n73.

I was thinking about that, but the dealer told me that when I turned off the ignition that the contacts would not be there, since I just tried the razr at lunch, I guess I'll know then I go back out and leave, if the contacts are still there, if they are I could work around that.

I've researched the automobile bluetooth issues on several forums, and it seems that NO ONE can get their BT autos whether it's a Mercedes, Lexus, BMW, etc, to sync their phone's contacts with ANY phone. They have to manually enter them one at a time to the car.

It's as if the automotive BT engineers never even talked to one from a cell phone company ......

I noticed that on my N73 (and N75) there is an option in the bluetooth menu for "remote sim access". Try activating that and see what happens.

Also, I know that S60 devices don't store contacts on the SIM card, they're on the phone memory. Could this have something to do with it?

Personally, I'm not sure why you wouldn't just get a bt headset for $50 and a $30 dash mount and call it a day.

Some of the built-in systems let you control the volume of a call from the audio controls on the steering wheel. Can't do that with a dash mount and BT headset, plus don't like wearing headset.

Well when I went out and started up the car, the contacts were no longer there. I was able to download contacts with no problem with the Razr, so now, if I want that feature to work, seems I will have to get a second phone or use the contacts on the N73 while driving, rest of the system works great.

I was really hoping that someone here had delt with this and found a way to do it.

Did you try copying your contacts on the N73 from the phone memory to the SIM memory? It's real easy:

Contacts - Options - Mark - Mark All - Options - Copy - To SmartChip Directory. See if that works.

Symbian phones don't really use the SIM memory for anything.
