I'm in Kansas City where we have EVDO, but no official broadband launch. I'm going to Chicago for the weekend. If I picked up a broadband card while I'm there would it work in KC on the $40 Broadband plan? Does it take any shennanigans to get running or can I just signup there and have it work here?

Dont quote me on this, but i "think" like roamin fees apply since is a service not offered in your market.
I tried using the UM100C from Oklahoma City and used it in Denver before broadband launch in that area. The network refuse to accept username but receive EVDO signal. I used it in Las Vegas too 2 days before their official launch and it works with very slow speed and horrible reception.

the cwis plan does not include national calling area, but if i remeraber correctly they told us it would work in launched markets.

I have a denver broadband card, and can confirm that it works in houston, which has unofficial evdo and has not launched broadband yet...
