Mystery Illness; some help to diagnose?

Over the past two days I've got a bit of a sore throat (worse when I swallow) and what feels like a blocked right ear (very painful when I swallow). I've got a slight cough but apart from that I'm feeling fine. Slight tiredness but only due to the sore throat. Is this a head cold? What can I do to get rid of this? Thanks
