Long story short, there’s a corner in our basement that’s a bit wrecked – Mushrooms growing in the corner, wet drywall, etc. We traced the problem to this tiny hose that come off our laundry tub, which only has hot water running through it either a) after using the faucets, or b) running the washing machine. The tube, we discovered, is not connected to anything, so it’s just been pissing water all over the place, behind the wall. It looks like it used to feed into a bigger black pipe, which I think links up with the dishwasher, but I’m not sure.
Would this be some sort of overflow tube, or a vent tube? Googling hasn’t gotten me very far… I’m just wondering if we can remove the tube completely and just cap it at the source, or if we can just run the tube down the drain in the laundry room…
