MyFaves Question

I didnt realize i could post this here..oops

My myfaves are not working properly. I got a call the other day from someone on my myfaves list and it registered in my phone log as another person on my myfave list. Alos, when one myfave person calls a different ringtone plays thats not even set up for anyone. I dont know where it is pulling it from. If i turn my phone off, and turn it back on my myfaves are moved around, numbers are wrong. What is the deal? I just tried to call TMO and their wait time is 3 hours!...
I know somebody here has to know what to do...plzzzz....

PM me, its a know issue with myFaves. First off, delete the profile exceptions for each person. Be sure you have the most recent OS. Then the phone off and remove the batt. Go online, call a local store, or tech support. Ask them to sync your faves. That should solve the problem. PM me with questions, I work for TMO and have encountered this before.

Thank you, i did what you said and called tech support. The guy walked me through a bunch of things, tried to sync myfaves and it wasnt working. Being i had a big problem with it on thursday (white screen & hour glass ), he said there is a possibilty of things missing...so they are just gonna send me a preplacement to me. Hopefully i wont have these problems again.
I appreciate your help very much, ty and i hope you have a wonderful New Years!

~via BB (wap.rabroad.com)~ I had the white screen and hourglass problem too. I would pull the battery and put it back in but it did the same thing. I just left it alone and played some Halo 2 deathmatch for about an hour and it was back to normal by the time I got my Slayer fix.

I would try to avoid the warranty replacements if at all possible. Although still covered under warranty, refurb is still a refurb. I like to keep my handset because I know it was NEW when I got it.

Don't come down on warranty replacements, most of the time it's a brand new handset, and when it's not, it's a phone that was only used for a couple of days, then returned. So it's not like your getting someone's old battered phone. And I think it's pretty nice the carriers even offer you a new handset instead of making you deal with RIM directly.

I have had this problem several times with this MyFaves. I am about to cancel it out honestly. It has caused nothing but troubles. I just had to get another replacement Pearl (3rd one now). Everytime i call they tell me it's a software issue and they will replace it. I am getting very tired of this and just wanna scream. No matter what they have be do while on the phone w/support it never fixes it. I'm sorry i dont have an answer for you, but just telling you what has happened. I have to wonder how mant times do i have to return my phone will it be before they remedy this issue, it is getting tiresome and making me start to hate my pearl.

Thanks for getting back to me... I know it's just a convenience issue, but it's faster than using the address book. I am waiting to hear back from T-mobile.. again.. I'll repost if I find out anything new.

I actually just finishing running in circles with various support types at T-mobile for the last 30-40 minutes for the same problem with my phone...

I restarted my phone every time they asked, and did everything else, and yet nobody really addressed the fact that it seemed very much like a software problem, not a setting problem...

I didn't get it resolved... I gave up when the blackberry guy tried to transfer my back to the "myfavs" specialist... I'll call them again tomorrow.

what I want to know now is this: how can I just delete the MyFavs module from the phone? I would be happy enough if it was just gone... I don't really need the 5 contacts on my main screen to call them

Glad to know there is someone else in the same boat as me. I've started e-mailing complaints because I'm tired of wasting hours on the phone. I don't understand why they won't delete myfaves and start it over.. seems like that should at least put me back to functioning correctly. I currently have the myfaves hidden... at least I can still call people for free... I really liked the convenience. Let me know if you get anything worked out.

problem resolved...

After another 20 minutes of going through the motions, I finally having a working MyFavs circle again...

here's what we did...
First, I humored the CSR (customer service rep.) and did the whole sync the MyFavs (which generates the text message) and turning the phone on and off, etc... Then tried restoring an old backup (didn't work) and then restoring today's backup....

Here's what finally did the trick: we did a complete wipe of the Pearl (options > Security Options > General Settings: press menu key, and select "Wipe Handheld")... while I was doing that, she refreshed my MyFavs list, yet again... I restored the data from today's backup...
-- at this point, the phone did not have MyFavs turned on, and did not have the Browser service books --
The CSR enabled MyFavs for the phone, and sent the service books for the Browser.

and now everything works like it should. About time.
