myFaves / BlackBerry & T-Mobile...

I was under the impression that myFaves only worked with a myFaves phone. But, I called T-Mobile today, and she (I should have gotten her name) said, I can use a phone that does NOT 'have myFaves', like the Pearl or Nokia 6103. MyFaves is actually determined by the SIM card...

So, you know what my next question is, right? Has anyone got myFaves on a T-Mobile account, and if you have, have you used a device that is NOT a 'true' myFaves device, and still gotten your calls free?

Thanks in advance

a lot of the tmobile people will tell you different things when you talk to them. i had to call 3-4 times to get my old plan set up right. if you make them check on it they usually tell you the right answer but many of them just think they know, i believe you can only have certain phones.. its not just the sim though cause i'm runnin my old sim when i switched to myfaves. if i have my charger for my old phone i'd test it but its long gone

Confirmed working on my TMO MDA...

Believe me, if I didn't, HEADS WOULD ROLL!!!!

And you can change and add them on the T-mobile website...

Myfaves works on non-myfavs phones, it's the software that allows you to change the contacts it's the account that allows the unlimited calling. Once you have setup the myfavs plan, place your sim card into a myfave phone, programs at least one number.

then place it into your non myfave phone. You can now use t-mobile.com to change or update your contacts.

whoa there, slow down. there's a reason t-mobile only wants you to use myfave plan on myfave enable phones: money. even though fave5 will keep working with nonfave5 phones, if they catch you you can be backcharged for it and all those "unlimited fave5" minutes you used.

you could've gotten the name of t-mobiles head of eastern sales and it wouldn't have mattered. always read the contract you're agreeing to, not the sweet tales of uninformed employees.

and what if you break your phone? Does that mean you have to use a myfavs phone? I'm sure they will not let you break there contract because you no longer have a myfavs phone. I'm pretty darn sure that the whole backcharge thing will not fly in court. ****not legal advice just my rant****

And just a little info for the myFaves on the Pearl, you can't have customizable ringers for any callers when you have a myFaves rate plan. There's some kind of conflicting software issue. In the words of the BB department at T-Mobile, "I don't know what to tell you." so if you plan on getting myFaves with a Pearl, you better plan on the hearing the same old T-Jingle for every caller until RIM brings out a fix.
