That is just a leaked pre-alpha version that was never meant to be used by the public. I have "talked" to a couple people who have used it and Display Images are part of it but consider this, that version is bound to be very buggy because it is in such early stages of development.
OK beyond I will give you the instructions I would give someone who is using Yahoo Messenger 9.0.
Read this Yahoo Help page about not being able to see Display Images:

Do you have the latest Adobe Flash Player installed? The latest version is 10.0.22.87. Here is a link that will check your version :

If you find that you need to update your Adobe Flash Player then please read this willarticle and follow the instructions very carefully. http://news.cnet.com/8301-13554_3-9916676-33.html
If the news.cnet.com link above is not working try then refer to this Yahoo! Help page instead: http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/messenger/messenger9/notices/mstaflasherror.html;_ylt=AhwTQlFIGOqJbqSb5vtAsW9f8Sh4
If you do update this also you can uncheck the box for Google toolbar that is on the download page, it is totally optional. After the installation box pops up, close all browser windows before installing. Important: Yahoo Messenger relies on Internet Explorer so be sure that when you update Adobe Flash Player that you do it in Internet Explorer. If you also use Firefox you will also eventually want to run this same page in Firefox and check your Adobe Flash Player version but the one that matters for Yahoo is Internet Explorer.
