my xbox 360 headset doesn't work when i play games online or record a message....

...there are no NAT issues, help!? i've tried everything, and been to every google result. the only advice i see is to make sure you have open NAT, make sure uPnP is on, and to forward the ports. done done and done, still not working though. i just bought the headset today because i thought my other one was broken
 
Im sure you've already synched the headset to your xbox? (by pressing the "signal" button on both the headset and the xbox?)

That is, if it's wireless..
