have a 5 year old boy.? My son lives with me majority of the time with my x having 6 days per month ( 2-3 weekends) Should I do something in court as I do not trust the boyfreind. I'm a little worried. My son gets along with him but will that be the case when they get married?
 
Whether your x's bf and your son continue to get along after his mother marries him is something only time will tell. The first thing you're going to have to find out is exactly what this guy's crime was. Some criminals are actually forbidden to be around children. If you know what county the crime occurred in you can usually get this information via the internet for free. If not, it would be worth your while to pay for a background check. Suspicion is not enough to get the court to act so you will have to show them something.
 
Pay the money to one of the background sites and find out why he spent time in jail.
Go to your attorney now, even if you take no action, just to let him know the circumstance and get his advice.
Not sure about this one, but if you have a custody agreement don't you have a court appointed person who is supposed to be on the childs' side?
On the one hand, no good parent tries to deprive their child of the other parent. Without good reason. Still the childs parent and they need both.
On the other hand, yes, according to statistics a big percentage of child abuse is commited by a step parent. So be on your guard.
 
I don't blame you. I would be scared to leave my little boy with him to. I guess it depends on what the crimes of his past were. Maybe you should find out more about this guy and if it is something really serious that could put your son in danger than take it to court and ask for full custody.
 
What kind of criminal past? Why was he in jail? For drugs?
Being violent?

Some things could prevent your exwife from having any custody visits with your son unless the boyfriend is not there.

What makes you think that they are going to get married? Are there plans for marriage?
