Read Carefully: I just bought a new home where wireless internet services are free. I also have a condo with the same ISP. The modems are built into the homes. At the condo, I have a Belkin router that works perfectly--wireless and all... when I bring it to the house, it does not broadcast a wireless signal. Their tech support told me it was the router, and that I should buy a new one. So... I bought a new one, this time a NetGear. Again, the NetGear works fine at the condo, but not the house. I have entered in the encryption correctly and EVERYTHING else I can think of. Now the clowns at the Service Provider is telling me there must be something wrong with the BRAND NEW NetGear as well. Can you please help me? My knowledge is fairly limited, so feel free to dumb it down =D Thanks!
Jexter:
Thanks for helping with my Router question. When I am in the condo, either router (the Belkin or if I plug in the NetGear) broadcasts a wireless signal... I can be in the other room and use the internet. When I am at the house, the router does NOT give off a signal, and the only way I can use the internet is to sit next to the port on the wall and plug an ethernet cable from the wall port directly into my PC. So I just can't figure out why my routers work at one place and not the other, especially since it's the exact same service provider (Greenfield Communications) at both homes. Does that help explain things?
