The system shows no faults and to all intents and purposes it should function.
I have taken the modem connection off for a couple of minutes
Closed down the whole system and restated with and without the modem being connected (connecting it after the start up)
Blamed my grandson
Taught my wife some new words
Called the computer some very rude names
Walked off in a hissy fit
Couldn't kick the cat 'cos we havn't got one
I like the cat over the back but it hates me and everyone else and I don't want to kick it anyway
Had a cup of tea and read the paper
Then tried again and it has worked.
In the meantime I've lost some more hair and thought my teeth were dropping out
