my wii can only connect via wifi if i dont have it encrypted.

I have no problem with mine. I have WEP set up. Linksys WRT54G. Are you sure you're entering everything in properly? I had some initial issues, but I had forgotten to add the MAC ID to the MAC Filter to allow access.

I believe it lists the MAC ID somewhere in the system settings. Sorry I can't give you a more exact location. What I did was disable MAC filtering on my router, attempt to connect my Wii, and the MAC ID showed up on the router, so I just added it from that.

1. From the Wii Channel menu, select "Wii Settings" (the round button on the bottom-left of the screen with "Wii" on it).
2. Select "Internet," then "Console Settings."
3. The MAC address of the Wii console is displayed on the first line.
