My washing machine is leaking from upstairs into my kitchen?

The washing machine is leaking from upstairs and its coming through the pot lights downstairs, the machine was never touched it happened on its own. i fear it will break through the ceiling and fall into the kitchen, is this possible? i already see lines in the ceiling. how do i stop it i don't know what to do! please help
