I bought my new computer that came with Vista a couple of weeks ago and i'm trying to instal a Linksys router in it. But it just wont play!! You know when you put a CD inside a computer and it automatically runs, well mine doesn't. I did mess with the computer a bit when i first bought and disabled a lot of things on the task manager through the "msconfig" section to keep the cpu low. Any suggestion on what to look for and what to do?

ther some stuff in vista that you have to deal with like stuff like this, incompatible stuff, crashes blue screens and super slowness

its something you just need to deal with vista im sorry but there are other superior os like mac osx.

Linksys doesn't need any software to run their routers. At least my wireless N doesn't. All I need to do is get the adapter all set up in my machine and I'm good to go.....but again...yet another issue with VISTA. There IS a site within linksys to help set it up for you too. Not sure where it's at..but here's a link for ya'.
Good luck and email me if you need help.

restar your PC, while it's booting up, keep pressing F8 until you get a list- one thing on the list should be ; " start using last know good configuration." that should do it, depending on what you did.
If it doesn't, go to control panel/ system/ hardware manager and double-click on your CD make sure the device is enabled and the driver updated. If even that fails, go back to control panel/ administrative tools/ services and turn a few things back on.
