My Verizon Wireless LG VX550 is completly dead and will not charge?

I was on a band trip and we were in the hotel when my phone was about to die. so I plugged in my charger to the wall and put it in my phone. but all of a sudden my phone began to flash the verizon wireless screen when you first turn it on, and then shut off and it would keep doing this untill I unplugged my phone from the charger. so that night I kept my phone plugged in, in hopes that it would charge. the next morning it was completely dead. But when I got home and tried to charge it, it did the same thing. I have this phone because my lg env 2 was broken and geeksquad is fixing it, this phone is a lender phone from Best Buy. please help
