my tv wont go into RGB mode with ps3?

I have my ps3 connected to a samsung LCD screen, and i am using a RGB scart cable which i know works because i have used it on a different tv with great results, and i also know my tv will go into RGB mode because i have a freeview box which when connected gives a RGB signal, it just seems to be that my lcd tv wont go into RGB mode with my ps3, ....very confused please help
