My toyota carina (R -Reg) had overheating problems - Water level oK?

New thermostat fixed. No signs of leak. Temp gauge stayed in the centre. Eventually leaks around Heater Matrix observed. AA representative by passed and rechecked - suspect Heater Matrix pipes leaking- Took the car to two garages and was advised not to venture into fixing the problem because of the cost involved in changing the heater matrix- I love my car because it's reliable? What can i do? it's okay now because summer is fast approaching.. I'm just wondering about winter!!!
 
You may need to flush out your radiator and your whole heating system, Unless you have been running with a corrosion inhibitor it has probably got 'sludged' up. Then check all your pipe joints.
