my tmobile contract ended today can i keep my number?

so my tmobile contract ended today and im switching to at&t but i NEED to keep the same number i have is this possible? im getting the iPhone 4 i just need to know if i can keep the same number because i have a lot of important people in their for work and everything (im getting my new phone tomorrow after work )
