My take on the stupidity of the Military....

We as Americans are supposed to have the best military in the world. That may be true, but i see that most of the people I deal with are the degenerates of society that had nothing better going on with their lives at the time of enlistment. I'm currently stuck here in Iraq with the army. I've seen a lot of bloodshed, and quite a bit of stupidity on the part of soldiers around me. Does it make sense to you to send a soldier to a battle position when he has a possibly fractured elbow? Common sense would say no. Let him heal and then send him back out. No no no, we cant have that. Lets send an injured soldier back out to get shot at, not being at 100 percent. Oh, and while we are at it, lets make an example out of him for falling down in a non-avoidable accident. Lets make him feel like shit about it too. Asshats. Funny thing is that the Army specificly makes things harder than they have to be. What is the point in sweeping a fucking OPEN AIR CONCRETE FLOOR WITH NO WALLS in a goddamn desert???? Can somebody tell me why? If I dont have the parts to fix a vehicle, its MY balls in the vice, not the supply guy who was supposed to order them 2 weeks ago. And god forbid i bring any problem I have back home up. I have been fucked over on my leave TWICE now. The last 2 Months I was supposed to leave this shithole and TWICE i was told I cant go. Why? No reason....oh yeah, thats right. Even though I have family problems going on at home that I need to be home for, some shitbag that wants to go SNOWMOBILEING gets priority over me. Nice...thanks guys. Oh, and then it gets even better. I get told that unless I have an emergency, I wont be going home on my leave. So much for that "Right". I hope to god that some things change in the Military soon, because I fear for every one of us if it continues down this path. The final insult was one of my good friends dying because his platoon sergeant told his men to shoot out all the lights on their path through the city. This was so they could use their night vision goggles on a patroll. Guess what that did? It made a nice blacked out path through a nice bright city. He died the next night along that same path, because some insurgent fuck decided to plant a bomb and wait untill they all walked past again. That was on december 26th 2004. The wall areound the corner had bright red letters sprayed on it.....it read MERRY CHRISTMAS AMERICANS HA HA HA....

Common sense is not with us over here....Pray for us all

That does not surprise me whatsoever....I NEVER liked the military, or anything involved. :thumbsdn:

Sorry to hear about the shit they're putting you through...hope things get better for you and all the others.

I was in Desert Storm part 1.

The same stupid shit was happening then, but the Iraqi were not trying to kill us nearly as much as we were then. I REALLY feel for you. I can only hope you make it out so you can leave that crap behind you. It wont get any better, so just get the hell out when you can. Get an Honorable discharge and all, but get out. The crappiest civilian life is better than being in the military, sometimes you have to do it just to find that out, like I did.

Good luck to you.

could it possibly be that you are getting screwed over because you are a low rank? not to pick, but i am in the Marine Corps and the lower ranked ones get messed with quite a bit and have to do stupid stuff. it comes with the rank. as you pick up, it does get better. or maybe you joined the wrong branch. not to try and recruit you over or anything, but some of that stuff dont happen in the Marines. also, instead of being over there for a year or so, we take 7 month deployments. sure beats staying out there a few extra months. but the picking comes with the territory. if it is that bad, dont re-enlist. but if you pick up rank fast, you probably wont get picked on so much and then you might change your mind about not re-enlisting. i was just over there last year and will be going out again soon.... the worst thing we had to do was fill sandbags. and that was all e5 and below.

no, its common knowledge, if there is a crappy job to do, the lower ranking person is going to be the one that is picked to di it. remember the old saying "crap rolls down hill"? same thing!

what does that arguement have anything to do with this one? nobody said it was right. maybe that will change one day, but i doubt it. rank has its privelages. anyone in the military that has dealt with this will tell you. but you are arguing with me when i agree that it aint right. but just agruing it being wrong aint gonna change it.

Right, the tards that keep letting it happen to them gotta change it. (Note, in case you missed it, the tards are the people in the military.)

Dude, anyone with experience in a job will tell you that rank has benefits. The lower you are in ANY field, the crappier the job you get. You're the new guy, the lowest ranking, the lowest paid, the least experienced or whatever and therefore you get the shit jobs. As you move up, things get better. It's a way to motivate people to move forward. If the work got crappier as you moved up nobody would ever move up.

Even WOLVES do it. If you're the lowest ranking worf you get peed on, you eat last and you get no respect.

Simply put, SOMEONE has to do the shittiest job. Who would you suggest does it?

UberSkippy has the idea. thank you! someone who is actually grasping the conversation. i mena come on, if you were the higher ranking one and you had to go do a crappy job, like pickup stinky trash around the dumpster full of maggots, rotten meat and whatnot, if there is a newer, lower ranknig guy there, who would do it?

alot of the military isnt happy with its current state, but we still have our orders and have to abide by them. everyone has someone to answer to. and just like the lower ranking people, the higher ranking have to put up with stuff to......... all the orders they dont agree with. everyone has to just stick with it once in a while. it does get better.
