My take on the PS3 vs. Wii

I know it's already been said and done to death, but here's what happened over the last couple days.

1. Went to Target and Wal-Mart looking for a Nintendo DS to get as a gift. Both had PS3's in stock (20GB and 60GB). However in both stores there were people (mostly angry dad's in business suits) looking for Wii's. Buying up accessories and Zelda's and Excite Trucks for when they finally get their Wii. Meanwhile 30 copies of Madden 07 and Six-Axis controllers went unbought.

2. My friend bought a 60GB PS3 2 weeks after the release for $160 over MSRP thinking he was going to totally make $2000 OMG!. But then he realized that the people that spend money on these systems are people that are actually going to use them and the main market for video game systems is young adults. Who has $599 (or more if you have to go to a scalper) to blow on a video game system? Especially when the Wii sells for $249 with a game and the Platinum Xbox pack sells for like $300 + change from Overstock w/ coupon.

The PS3 was marketed very poorly, the price is going to make the near future very hard on Sony and now that the hype is over they are going to experience very slow sales until their first price drop which by a look at their specs and press conferences is going to be quite awhile to go.
 
Hahah i think that a wii and a 6+ games, or an xbox premium and 4+ games is better than just the ps3.

and apparently the public agrees.
 
Yeah thats probably true, But none of those can play HD dvd's. Your wii looks like crap funn but no where near the power of a ps3. The xbos ur just going to buy 4 copies of gears of war.
 
I can afford many ps3's but decline to, its useless right now. No games i really wanna play. If it wasnt for zelda i probley wouldnt have rushed out and got a wii either. If your into first person shooters the 360 will kick your ass all day since of 3 recent releases.
 
Not necessarily as a rule. But if I was after a game SPECIFICLY because of it's eye candy, I'd get it for PC. So far the Wii is the first console that have given me a game-play experiance I can't get on my PC, hence why I got one.
 
His comparing the prices. So to me im guessing he cant afford it. And tries to say its to expensive.

The wii is a must nintendo is that shit when it comes to having fun on systems. I cant stop playing my ds and mario kart online.

But ps3 just owns when playing some madden, and resistance. The 360 aint bad at all. I was going to get a 360 but came across a ps3 and i liked the blu ray feature. TO ME i think the ps3 is a great price.
 
To be honest, I think of a Wii as a beefy-Gamecube with a neat controller.

For graphics and next-gen stuff, it's between 360 and PS3. I'll wait for the good PS3 games to come out, and then we'll have to see who wins the HD-DVD vs. Blu-Ray war on the DVD formatting. Also, my TV is high-def but lacks HDMI.

While they duke it out, I'll play my PS2 and maybe spend a few bucks on a Wii.
