My T3 looks pretty good now

Like so many of us, I began to lust over the new T5 and Life Drive. Fortunately I restrained myself and kept reading the various palm boards including this one. With all the problems I have had with my T3, I still think it is best I keep it. Moreover, after reading abuot T5 and LifeDrive problems, I would want to purchase a new T3 if I lost this one, not one of the newer models (witht he possible exception of the TE2). I find it very interesting how my opinion has changed over the years I have had my T3. Initally the transition form the 515 was difficult.
So, rather than up grade I treated my T3 to a new Stylus (javo edve) and a new sena belt case. It feels like a new machine. As functional as the old Bellagio case was, it was more bulky and did not sit in the cradle as well. Plus the black and blue color scheme is much more attractive than the all black bellagio case. I am bnow thinking of trying to find a T3 for my wife. How my thinking has changed

I'm with you!

I like the look and feel of the lifedrive, and if my T3 took a dump I'd be torn between the LD and another T3 - although I'M LOOKING for another T3 and am having difficulty.

You may not have the choice of a 2nd T3 acolythe, but I agree with you that a couple of tweaks (and believe me, mine's tweaked!"), can add all the real-world functionality you need to actually USE IT DAILY; plain old familiarity is often the reason we don't wish to "upgrade," especially when you take a sharp pencil to the deal and REALLY analyze what you're getting vs what you lose. I'm not interested in the newest based on "new" merits alone.

There has to be somewhere in L.A. where someone's got a "virgin" T3 in a box . . . it's just finding the needle in the haystack. A Jack spratted/flashed T3 with 10MB of freed up flash (in my case 3MB still free of flash and 49MB free of RAM out of 52!) - just seems like the way to go -- but 4GB and WiFi is pretty cool, too IF YOU NEED IT. I've got two syli I use and they do make a big difference, along with the right screen cover and CAR WAX to make it slippery and more responsive. I would insist on CARRYING the LifeDrive with me and NOT in a briefcase, so a slightly larger belt case would be necessary. I don't think the extra heft would kill me, but it's nice having that slider - especially since I don't use landscape very often anyway.
