:dizzy: I've posted before on the great improvements noted in my skin when I was trying the South Beach Diet. I didn't stay on this regime and of course my skin returned to its nasty normal acneic state. My skin fluctuated from disgusting to bearable and while it was in its state of bearable I enjoyed being able to eat like a normal person. My diet has always been extremely healthy. I don't eat junk and love fresh fruits and veggies. So, I had become disillusioned with the whole acne-diet connection. I wanted to eat what I considered to be healthy and have it show in my skin as well. But unfortunately it works the other way around, your skin shows you what is healthy for your body.
After a raw food diet for 2 weeks consisting of huge amounts of fresh fruit and juices I became very ill. This was due to something unrelated I had believed, but looking back on it, I think that I had created such disharmony in my body that it precipitated the illness. My liver was in a state of distress and I was jaundiced to prove this. But what really killed me was my skin at this point. Literally every inch of my face was covered with small watery filled bumps, these changed into larger pustules and gradually with the help of alternative herbal medicine, they transformed into fewer but deeper and larger cysts. Now, with the herbs I was still having terrible breakouts and at my age, close to 30, I am sick and tired of this. And so, the diet struggle resumes. Last week, I made myself a great pot of veggie and chicken packed soup and limited myself to this, boiled eggs, raw nuts and seeRAB and added in a greenfooRAB powder to boost myself up. If it werent for my weekend of "treating" myself, my skin would be completely clear of any new lesions. At present, even with my cheating, my skin is 80 percent improved. The biggest difference in my diet has been the exclusion of fruit. This is quite distressing to my mother as she is a fruitaholic. I intend to readmit fruit into my diet, but carefully as I'm not sure what surge of sugar my body is prepared to handle. Will keep you posted.
