get to mechanic?
I would do it myself, but I have heard that on this truck you have to move the transfer case and the y pipe to get into the cubby where the starter is housed

Use a hammer or wrench a knock on the solenoid. Change the starter yourself. Very simple project. 2 bolts, 2-3 wires. You can pick up a rebuilt starter at any auto parts store, with the exchange of your old one. Most starters will carry a warranty for the time you own the vehicle. The starter will run you around $60 with the trade in. Will take about an hour to exchange out and save you $60-$100 in labor charges.

I put a new starter in a 90 GMC FWD and didn't have to remove anything but the starter.
