The car has 198K miles on it and it has been a good car.
It over heated Jun 21st and shut down on him as he was returning home after a 60 mile drive down the interstate.
The oil and coolant were fine but I am pretty sure it is either his waterpump and/or thermostat.
I have not had it fixed yet. The car is hard to start. It takes about 10 seconds for the engine to start up. Once it starts the engine is smooth and quiet and you can drive it 5-10 minutes and it has seemingly normal power. It smokes slightly out the exhaust as is probably normal for a car with 198K miles on it.
I only drove it a few miles as I did not want to completely ruin the engine.
Being the car has alot of miles on it, we were planning on replacing it with a car that had fewer miles on it anyway. Yesterday we found a car with 102K on it and bought it.
I plan on either selling the car cheap, like $500 or even for scrap. I am wondering if car is worth fixing.
