My songs won't appear in the Windows Media Player library?

When I double click a song in my music folder, it normally just opens in Windows Media Player and starts playing, as well as being automatically added to my library. However for some reason today it won't; I double click the song, and it begins to play (and I can see it in the Now Playing screen), but it does not appear in the library, and nor does it come up when I try searching for the song in WMP. Does anyone know why this is happening, and how I can fix it? I don't want to have to go into my music folder every time I want to listen to those few songs...
