graduating with his division.? How many weeks can he be set back before he is discharged for failure to adapt? He told me that some recruits have been in there for a year. Is that correct?
Additional details: He has passed the 50 feet jump, but has not been able to reach the 5 min dead man float. He is at 3 minutes now. He was scheduled to graduated on Dec. 24th and now is set back until the next graduation of Jan 2. He is concerned because he said he could be in there for an entire year and if so, can he have visitors during that time, leave, liberty, etc.?

it just depends on your son and how well he does the next time.. more than likely they will help improve his time..as far as being in the swim phase for over a year sounds a bit long.. but it does happen,, they will do whatever they can to help him and he will get through it..just some patients
you didn't say how close he was or how far off he was.
