I have a Colombian Red Tail Boa. He is a few years old, i have only been bitten once, and it was because i accidentally scared him. My snake is usually very docile. So much so, that i would have him around my neck, and dance with him when i belly dance.

I recently lost my job, and my snake went 2 weeks longer without food than normal, i would normally feed him every 2 and a half weeks.

I fed him just the other day, on the 12th. I knew he was hungry because of the way he would move. I never feed my snake in his own cage, i feed him elsewhere, and i wear rubber gloves when i handle his food so i keep the smell off me better. When i went to feed my snake, he wouldn't let me touch him, he kept striking repeatedly
i couldn't even get close to him, but i didn't want him to go hungry, so i put the rat in his cage. For the first minute he didn't even go for the rat, he kept trying to strike at me through his cage. It made me nervous. He did eat the rat just fine, but even after he ate it he would strike at me. So i put a blanket around his cage to make it dark and muffle sound to give him some peace, because he was obviously very agitated. I checked on him today, he was resting at his water bowl. I put my hand on the glass and he struck at me again. I dint understand why he keeps striking at me. It makes me nervous, and im worried . I feel bad, this has never happened in any of my years owning a snake, and i have owned a few snakes before..
@ hexxzilla:

My snake wouldn't ever eat frozen foods, it had to at least be a little alive. It has been incredibly warm lately though, in the high 80's, and when im away all day at work i keep the air off because i dont have a thermostat. And of course, because i fed him much later than normal. I feed him every 2 and a half weeks because he wouldn't eat if i fed him sooner, so 2 and a half weeks seemed to work great. he isn't fully grown yet either, about half grown i would say. Do you have any suggestions about cooling his tank? and when should i try feeding him again?

Thanks everyone for your answers
