My snail that lives with my betta fish is acting weird. It has this white stuff on the outside of its shell. that stuff is just completely covering its shell and its as big as a grain of sand. any thing wrong with the tank or is it something with the snail? please help me out

I agree with nosoop that your snail's shell sounds like it's eroding. That can mean your tank water is acidic, the diet your snail is being given is deficient in calcium which aquatic snails must have or it could be a bit of both.

Check your pH and even your gH to see what it's like. Definitely feed your snail some calcium enriched foods like the spinach. If you don't have that, check out the link for calcium enriched foods that your snail can eat and homemade snaily food recipes. I've personally used the calcium block which worked out nicely.
