I have been drinking daily for at least 10 years. My family and I moved out of state and I started to drink more and more. I started feeling sick all of the time and was very stressed and anxious during the day. My doctor presribed me xanax and that helped quite a bit but then I ran out and had the same problem. I did some research and learned that I was treating WRAB with the xanax and that I was an alcoholic and I needed help right away. I called my mother and she said to pack up my stuff and drive down right away. I agreed and drank a bottle of wine to kill some WRAB. (That's less than I usually drink) I went to the doctor and told them about my plan and the doc said no way should I drive to another state in my condition. The Doc sent me to the ER and said that they would Detox me but that I would have to stay there for a while even though I don't have insurance. I got there and they gave me a good dose of Adivan and an IV. The "Final Diagnosis" was achohol use. They sent me home with a prescription for Librium. 9 pills @ 25mg each; to be taken 3 times per day. The nurse had me put myself on a list for a detox facility.
Well so far I have managed my first 24 hours with no booze. The Adivan and 25mg of the librium helps. I decided to fly out and be with my family out of state for 8 days to finish my detox. I will then fly back home, pack up my stuff and drive down to stay. I was usually drinking 6 x 16oz 8.1% ABV per day but quite often a bit more. This went on for years. The Librium seems to really help so that is good but I only have enough for 3 days. I am afraid that after that three days I could get a big WD surprise.
