my sims 3 game isn't working! help?

i bought the sims 3 not too long ago and ihave been trying to download it. my friend brought hers over and we downloaded it and it worked just fine. then i bought my own version, and i uninstalled the game. now im trying to reinstall it and it gets to the point where all of the bars are filled in and it says C:\ProgramFiles\ElectronicArts\TheSims3 \GameData\shared\Packages\Fullbuild1. package

but this error thingy keeps popping up and it says "CRC error: The file C:\ProgramFiles\ElectronicArts\TheSims3 \GameData\shared\Packages\Fullbuild1. package doesn't match the file in the setup's .cabfile. The medium from which you are running the setup may be corrupted; contact your software vendor."
and you can choose the options Abort, Retry, or Cancel.

what does that mean? i keep pressing retry but that just keeps popping up. what do i do so i can play my game?
 
Um maybe you dont have enough space on your computer? or its a dodgy disk? or you need to update some stuff? sorry i havnt heard of that error befor I really hope i helped :\
