Watched it last night at 00:01!!!!
And to some it up, great movie! not fantastic... but still great!!!
When I first heard that there would be a Simpsons movie I feared it would just be a "The Simpsons go to 'insert your chosen country here'" type of movie, fortunately this isnt and focuses on Springfield, allowing them to use all the characters you know and love.
Unfortunately, although you will get to see your favourite Springfieldians, you dont get to hear them much. Most characters get one line and thats it, and its unfortunate because their quirky personalities are wasted. Homer unfortunately hogs the screen. The writers seem unable to accept that other characters can be funny too!
The First 10-15 minutes are superb, comedy genious, but it still doesnt quite feel like watching the old simpsons episodes you know and love.
The Simpsons are also nicelty returned to their old family self, Homer is no longer the bumbling "4th Simpson child" and takes on his old ignorant stupid father role again.
The humour does't quite return back to the old Simpsons witty style, but is a breathe of fresh air none-the-less! So it has more subtle jokes, and the usual one-liner puns that most new simpsons episodes have been turned into! Cameos are also fortunately kept down to a minimum and used to their full effect!
The one main thing missing from this movie is any musical numbers, (like the Monorail song), which you would usually expect from this type of movie and would have worked great with the ability to use the whole of the Springfield cast.
Still, whether your a fan of the old simpsons episodes, or the new ones, you wont be dissapointed! Youll definately be laughing out-loud and by the end you'll be gagging for more!
8.5/10
p.s Spider-pig is the star of the show!!!!!!!!
