My sigma 28-70mm lens flashes err 99 when i use it on any aperture 3.5 and

higher how could i fix this? I can't seem to figure out what is wrong, the lens is clean, its not my camera, because the other 5 lens i own all work just fine, the lens it self is clean. Can anyone lend some great pearls of wisdom?
 
Ah, it seems that you have a Sigma lens and are attempting to use it on a Canon camera.

One of the draw backs to buying and using generic lenses is that some camera manufactures make firmware changes to enhance the performance of their cameras and lenses, generic lenses and accessories and the generic makers do not have access to these proprietary specifications.

In some cases, an owner of such a lens has to send the lens to the generic lens maker to be re-chipped" at their own expense. So much for saving money by buying a generic lens.
