my sidekick lx wont turn on?

i turned it off last night because it was freezing , powered off took out battery put it back & nothing , nothing on the screen either i connected it to the charger & the orange light turns on but nothing its been on the charger for a while i took out the battery & connected the charger without the battery & the orange light turned on then slowly off & track ball flicked green light , so may it be the battery ??? help plzzz
