My sidekick lx won't let me sign in?!?!?!?!?

I bought a new refill card and I can call people and it says I need to sign it and it won't let me and there's a money icon on the main menu and I already refilled it. When I try to sign in it says data services are unavalibe. To avoid loss of data backup and resume data services please perchase a refill card and then sign in...... But it won't let me???? Plzzz help WTF is wrong wit my sidekick???? Is trhe sim card messed up???
