my samsung external hard drive wont show up in 'my computer' help!?

under device manager i found it in disk drives as generic external usb device, but no letter assigned to it... what do i do now? i cannot find my harddrive anywhere at all..power supply is all fine...tried re-instaling it too...no luck...no CD given with the HD for any software installatin...
 
Sounds like your Hard Drive has become corrupt either from switching your computer off when it is still on or just the ago of it i would suggest buying a new one there not that expensive just look around for one either on amazon or eBay and you shall find one that suits your need.
