my red betta fish turned gold i don't know if it past on and my mom bought a goldfish?

my fish was acting strange yesterday and at night my mom had the tank in the bathroom she said shes going to the bathroom i think she flushed it now my fish is energetic please anwser
 
I think you might be right. Betas don't change colors. Your mom wanted to save you some pain- nice mom
