My poem "Voyage" had an appreciative audience at the folk/poetry evening.
Would recited free verse go down well too? (This is a minor re-write.)
THE SALT WIND
When through the slowing dunes
The salt wind twists a new and bitter path
Hissing at your neck like an old enemy
Reminding you of long-forgotten loss;
When late afternoon hangs
Grey over sand that is neither foundation nor medium,
But merely shifting irritation;
With voices cold and distant, mocked
By the rollicking shriek of gulls;
Now twilight is a reluctant doorway,
And over the open sea
Nightfall is barrelling down, too fast
For understanding,
Whilst the salt wind carves a new and bitter track
Down to where the snarling sea destroys.
