My puppy keeps shivering and whining for no apparent reason?

He is been shivering on and off for a couple weeks now and I just thought maybe he was scared or cold but today he keeps on whining and shivering for periods of a couple minutes. What could be wrong with him?
No I don't mean like constantly... I mean like it happened once or twice in the past couple of weeks. He was shivering so I thought he was cold.. I wouldn't take my dog to the vet just because he was cold.

He's afraid of something, not sure what though. Is there something similar happening around him each time? If so, try to stop it or remove him from the situation.

Whatever you do, do not shower him with love while he's shaking. He will see this as you being weak, and he will feel like he has to step up and become the alpha dog, putting more stress on him.

you need to take him to the vet, shivering is a sympton of lost of things! this dog is trying to tell you something, please bring it to the vet!

If you had just gotten him, he might just be sad and missing his mom. What kind of dog do you have? If it's a little dog, and a puppy, he probably is just cold. Try getting a couple of old blankets or towels and wrap him up a little.

And make sure he's not hungry or thirsty, puppies eat a lot!

Good luck!

If you just got him recently he is probably still missing his mommy. Do as much cuddling as often as you can until he gets more confidence. But also remember there are lots of things he could catch so if his eyes change or he quits eating, you might get him checked at a vets
