my ps3 bluetooth wont connect?

ok so i got my ps3 bluetooth by sony today and i follow all the instructions, put it in discovery mode. let it charge for 3 hrs and then go to settings accesories, ect. then when i go to scan it just keeps going untill the end of time! ive tried restarting it. ive tried to turn off and on the bluetooth but nothing works.
