my printer is flashing green ready light?

My green ready Light on my HP Laserjet 1022 started flashing today...I can still print but everything is delayed a few seconds. There is nothing waiting to be printed in the computer's database...what could it be? I know the flashing is causing the delay because I have never had the delay or the flashing before..any ideas?
