I had planned on living with 3 other people next year, two girls (A and B) and a guy. We were all friends at the beginning of the fall semester but now the guy's feelings have developed into something more for one of the other girls "A". The other potential roommate "B" and I confronted them separately and together, eventually getting them to admit their feelings for one another to us and each other. Unfortunately, both the guy and "A" are recently out of relationships and neither want to commit to each other right now. But we have to sign for the apartment before the end of the calendar year. "A" has expressed that she would live either on campus another year or find someone else to live with, but I'm concerned that's unfair to her.
Any advice on the situation?
Also, on slightly different note, if "A" does live somewhere else, another guy would be joining us as a roommate. Any ideas on how to explain that to a protective/conservative mother who called "A" and the guy's relationship from the start and is fond of the phrase "I told you so"?
