My 01 grand prix 3.8 L won't shift right. You can keep keep it in park and rev it to 3000rpms and it will start to shake. If you are driving it you get to about 10 mph and it shakes until it decides it wants to shift. If you let off the gas just a little it will shift. You can't really go faster than 40mph. It feels like its shuddering at about 2000 rpms. I don't think its the transmission because it still does it in park. Any ideas?

It is the transmition, most cars do shake over 3000 rpms, and the connection between your tranny and your motor is loose or somethings wrong there. And the car shifting like that.. So not right, I recomend changing the tranny fluid at first to see and if it keeps doing that good luck since pontiac went bankrupt...

i had a 04 Grand Prix, it had roughly 70K miles on it and unfortuneatly its the transmission. we called it "shift shitting" and yeah even if your tranny is going in the early stages they will still have to completely pull it apart, and its going to be VERY expesive. i had to get rid of mine before it completely dies... honestly you may want to start looking for a new car, im sorry :-( i miss mine very much.
