My pocket bike won't start?

I recently picked up an old pocket bike for about 50$ The bike is in pretty good shape, the chain is a bit rusted and it needs a new spark plug, but overall in good shape.

However, I think there is a major problem with the bike and its clearly evident. Whenever I try to pull start the bike, its not only incredibly difficult, it also sounds like metal rubbing against metal. Honestly, it sounds like the engine is completely rusted out and it won't loosen up, not one bit.

So I went online and found a replacement engine that costs 130$, which is much than I expected to pay for the bike.

So am I out here? Is there any way of repairing the engine or is it just what it is? Could I possible take the engine apart or would that be a waste of time?

All answers are appreciated, thanks.

if it is hard to sart and you can hear metal rubbing against metal it has probably been ceased or blown a ring which will be scratching and guageing your cylinder quite nicely ha. You may as well take the engine apart and see whats wrong it could just be the rings, you wont know unless you take it apart
