i noticed this while im at a light or in park it revs up then back down then a few seconds later repeats the same process. I would think its probably a couple of hundred on the Tach its not red lining or anything like that. its coming up to 200000 km. i hate this crappy car but its worth nothing to trade it in so im gonna drive it into the ground before getting a new car.

Idle air control valve probably has carbon in it needs cleaned or replaced. the cycling is probably a result of the AC compressor kicking on and off. It will do that in defrost mode also. when the compressor kicks on the idle air control valve is supposed to adjust for the extra load so the engine doesnt die but if its full of carbon you'll get the results your getting right now

You need to talk nicer to it!!! Clean the IDLE AIR CONTROL VALVE. It can be removed. Also, clean the chamber that it sits on. Use Gum-out spray. These engines were designed by Porsche for ford. I guarantee you they are VERY good. Most often problems are from bad advice or poor maintenance. Use ONLY mobil One oil 0W-30. It will save you money because it lasts 3-4 times as long and keeps the engine's guts clean. Clean your THROTTLE BODY and PLATE with same. Make sure that the trottle cable is not binding or sticking. If you do as I say, your mileage and power will improve, and so will your disposition!!
