my picture messaging says restoring messages on my sidekick slide, HELP?

a little over a month ago my old sidekick got thrown in the pool and i got my cousin gave me her old slide.
and i put my sim card and memory card in that one.
and i recently took out the sim memory and battery.
and when i put it back in my picture messaging said "restoring message" and it's been like this for a week and now i cant send or receive messages.
can anyone help D:
