My Phone has no service?

I bought a unlocked LG Neon to replace the phone AT&T gave me. I've had it for about 6 months and now it is telling me it has no service. I tried checking it on another phone and it has nothing to do with the sim card. The phone hasn't gotten good reception any where but is telling me I have no service in my own home. What could be the problem?
