My Philip's tv wont work?

I have a 42 inch LCD Philips tv, we broke the remot a long time ago and we wer just using the buttons at the side of the tv. Somehow the tv has went to setup screen and we cant get it off, have tried to universal remote controls but they didnt work, has anyone any ideas how to fix this
