I can't even get it started, we're on a black screen at the beginning of startup, and you can HEAR it trying to access the CD drive, in which there is nothing BTW. When I came in earlier, it told me it had to shut down because of an error, and to restart. I did, and now I got through "PCI Device Listing"... Updating ESCD... Success, Verifying DMI Pool Data.... then "Boot from CD:" at which I am stuck. I am running XP, and ANY help would be great!
I am posting from my laptop BTW, for the person who asked!
OK I did the F12 thing, and now it says "disk boot failure, insert system disk and press enter". I don't HAVE a system disk, so any ideas? Thanks in advance (those who were not butts about this)

press F12 when its turning on and select boot from hard drive (it might be boot from HDD) from the time you turn on your computer just keep pressing F12 till you get to a screen you dont normally see. I hope that makes sense, it's kinda hard to explain without showing you!

quick call 911 or just call computer company for help they will tell you to bring the computer to them or they will come over.

Access the BIOS and remove the CD Drive as a possible boot device. If it is setup to boot from the CD drive prior to the HDD, and there is an issue with the CD drive, it may not move on to the Hard drive.

Also may want to physically disconnect the CD drive from the system board to rule it out as the culprit all together

either u change ur cdrom or dvdrom or get a fresh xp installer. clean your installer with ithayl alcohol and wipe it with soft clean cloath. make sure that ur cdrom is set as slave if it is connected with the single IDE cable that also has hard drive. you may need to change IDE cable as well.
